Why Choose Us

At Clifford Cottage, we take pride in offering a charming detached period cottage in a village setting. Our delightful vintage-inspired Laura Ashley interior creates a homely ambiance that's perfect for relaxation and enjoyment.
 

Whether you are a professional wanting good transport links to the cities for work, and also wanting to relax and enjoy a peaceful glass of wine on the patio, or you are a family with children and dogs that are looking for a holiday cottage, then we can cater for you.

For those musically minded we also have a piano. There are three double bedrooms, all with double beds, a dining kitchen with a six seater dining table, a sitting room with two sofas and a piano, television and wifi. The kitchen is equiped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, washing maching, tumble dryer and dishwasher.

 

Our large garden has a patio with table and chairs and a lawned garden. We even have a trampoline, tree swing and a climbing frame for children. We are dog friendly too. 

 

Less than a mile to the M1, M62, M621 Motorways. Just 3 miles from Wakefield, 7.5 miles from the city of Leeds. The White Rose leisure and shopping complex is just ten minutes away.

 

Strong transport/Bus links to Leeds and Wakefield, and 10 minutes from Wakefield Westgate Station.

Things To Do For Adults, Children & Dogs

East Ardsley village is close to the bustling major cities of Leeds and Wakefield, and has good bus transport links to the two cities and train stations of Leeds and Wakefield Westgate and Kirkgate.
Both cities have lots to do for adults and children, from theatres, art galleries, shopping, children's activities, award winning restaurants and a great bustling night out in pubs and winebars. Throughout the year they also have various creative and musical festivals.

A short ten minute bus ride will take you to the White Rose Shopping and Leisure Complex that has the largest Marks and Spencers in the North, a Cinema, bowling alley, restaurants, shops and outdoor play area. https://www.white-rose.co.uk/en
 

For those of you who like art and heritage there is the Yorkshire Sculputure Park, The Hepworth Gallery, Royal Amouries, National Coal Mining Museum and lots of country houses such as Harewood House, Temple Newsome and Kirstall Abbey.

Well Equiped Village

In the village of East Ardsley there are two country pubs, one which serves delicious food, there is also a Tesco local, a petrol station, a local butchers, a hairdressers, beauty salon and a post office. There are also two Chinese takeaways, Fish and Chips and an Italian takeaway in the village as well as a local coffee shop.  Most of the restaurants in Leeds, Wakefield and the White Rose also deliver takeaways via the Just Eat app.

Children and Dogs

For those with children, our cottage is well equipped and has boxes of toys, a garden tree swing, climbing frame and trampoline for children, Tingley Garden Centre is 7 minutes drive and has an excellent soft play and outdoor 'Mission Out' activity park and a delicious restaurant https://tingleygardencentre.co.uk/

Whilst one mile away there also another garden centre and softplay at Carr Gate. https://www.britishgardencentres.com/centres/carr-gate-garden-centre/ 


 

There is also a field opposite the cottage, where there is a park and area for dog walkers and also two children's play areas. The garden in the cottage is also great for dogs large or small. Nearby Middleton (7 minute drive) has a lovely Country park and a Miniature Steam Railway, Nostell Priory is also great for dogs and children, and so is Newmillerdam that has a beautiful lake and woods.
